Watch Minnesota-Missouri Live in the Gold Zone

 Minnesota will play five games on the week as it travels to face Missouri on Apr. 7-8, and returns to the Metrodome to take on Northwestern Apr. 10-12. The Golden Gophers will face the Tigers on Tuesday, Apr. 7 at 6:35 p.m. and then on Wednesday, Apr. 8 at 2:05 p.m. Minnesota will then host Northwestern on Friday, Apr. 10 at 6:35 p.m., Saturday, Apr. 11 at 2:05 p.m. and Sunday, Apr. 12 at 1:05 p.m. All five games can be heard on gophersports.com. The three Northwestern games can be seen on live video in the Gold Zone, and KLBB (1220) will carry the Missouri game on Apr. 8 and two games against the Wildcats on Apr. 11 and 12. The Tigers enter the week with a 15-16 overall record and are in ninth place in an extremely competitive Big 12 at 5-7. Northwestern enters the week with a 5-20 overall record and is in 10th place in the Big Ten at 1-4.

Derek McCallum enters the week with an amazing streak of RBI in 10 straight games for the Golden Gophers. The streak started on Mar. 18 when he went 2-for-4 with an RBI against Texas-Arlington, and continued through the weekend when he knocked in a run in every game against Ohio State. During the stretch, McCallum has seven multi-RBI games including a stretch of six straight from Mar. 21 to Apr. 1. He has also batted .419 (18-for-43) with 22 RBI in the 10 game stretch.  

Redshirt freshman AJ Pettersen has caught fire over the course of the last nine games for the Golden Gophers. During that stretch, he has batted .559 (19-for-34) with 18 runs, 11 RBI, had a .667 on-base percentage and walked 10 times. Pettersen has made an immediate impact in Big Ten play, where he has batted .526 (10-for-19) with nine runs and six RBI in just five games. In the Golden Gophers last games against Ohio State, the redshirt freshman from Minnetonka went 3-for-5 tied a career-high four runs and knocked in a career-best three RBI. Pettersen also had an immediate impact in the series opener against the Buckeyes, as he reached base all four times, went 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI and made a couple of run-saving defensive plays at shortstop.

GOPHERS RANKED IN POLLS FOR FOURTH WEEK IN A ROW

Minnesota was in a poll for a fourth week in a row, as it moved into the Collegiate Baseball Top 30 at No. 30. It is the first time the Golden Gophers had appeared in that poll since Mar. 10, 2003.  The Golden Gophers were ranked No. 25 in the Baseball America Top 25 for three weeks before dropping out this week. Minnesota won two of three over then No. 18 Ohio State last week, and lost to Northern Iowa in a midweek game on Apr. 1. Minnesota’s three weeks in the Baseball America poll were its first in that poll since May 20, 2001.  Baseball Magazine poll.
