Former University of Minnesota golfer Terra (Petsinger) Posthumus recorded a 36-hole score of 133 (68-65) to win the 2009 LPGA Central Section Championship at Stonecreek Golf Club in Phoenix, Ariz. With the win, Posthumus secured a spot in the 2010 LPGA Championship that will be played in August of 2010.

A four-time letterwinner at the University of Minnesota (2002-05), Posthumus participated in 38 career tournaments at the U. She led the team in stroke average during her junior and senior seasons and finished her Gopher career with a 78.40 stroke average (110 rounds), the fourth-lowest in Gopher history.

Posthumus, a three-time Academic All-Big Ten performer, is all over the Golden Gopher record books. She holds the fifth and seventh lowest fall season scoring averages (75.71 & 76.25), the 14th lowest spring season scoring average (78.06), the sixth and the 11th lowest year scoring average (77.33 & 77.59) as well as the aforementioned career average. Also, she is tied for seventh for the lowest 54-hole tournament score (220 twice) and tied for second for the lowest 72-hole score (298 in 2003 Big Ten Championships).

A site for the 2010 LPGA Championship has not yet been determined.
