Minnesota’s Heather Dorniden advanced to the semifinals of the 800-meter run at the 2009 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., on Thursday. Dorniden ran a time of 2 minutes, 5.97 seconds to earn one of the 16 spots in Friday’s semifinals.

The semifinals’ field is a familiar one for Dorniden, who has competed against most of the qualifiers at some point during her Golden Gopher track career. Alysia Johnson, running for Nike and former of the U. of California, clocked the top time in the first round of 2:04.39.

Friday’s semifinals are scheduled for 7:55 p.m. CT. The race takes place during a two-hour window (7-9 p.m. CT) that ESPN will televise live from the Championships.
