Gophersports.com: What impressed you the most about the University of Minnesota?
Elizabeth Weitz: The campus is beautiful, smack dab in the middle of a great city. There really is a strong commitment to a balance between swimming and academics.
GS: What was one of your favorite memories either at the high school or club level?
EW: Two and a half months after I was diagnosed with mono. I qualified for junior nationals in several events, and nationals in one, when I previously hadn't been very close to the cuts. That was awesome!
GS: Since you’ve committed to Minnesota, what have you been up to and what have you been doing this summer?
EW: I was in a great musical and was mentored by some architects. Now I am lifeguarding at some pools and in training for lifeguarding at the beaches.
GS: Do you have any individual or long-term goals at Minnesota?
EW: I want to swim well at NCAAs, and I want to build strong connections with the community...and learn a lot of course!
GS: What’s your favorite thing to do when you aren’t in the pool?
EW: Napping is a great way to spend some down time, as well as making delicious food.
GS: What are you the most excited for after stepping foot on campus?
EW: Spending time with the team, stepping up my training, and competing in some intense bowling matches.
