Lauren Weis: What impressed me the most about the University of Minnesota, is the campus and the size of the school. It just felt right from the beginning and is always a very welcoming place.
GS: What was one of your favorite memories either at the high school or club level?
LW: My favorite high school memory would be High School State AA 2007 when we only had a team of four girls and got third place. Our relays took second and first place and I broke 2 state records (200 and 500 freestyle) and one of them was the longest standing swimming record. Junior National competitions with my club team was always a good and fun experience also.
GS: Since you’ve committed to Minnesota, what have you been up to and what have you been doing this summer?
LW: Since I've committed to Minnesota, this summer I have been swimming with my club team and coaching a country club swim team - and mostly just being excited for next year!
GS: Do you have any individual or long-term goals at Minnesota?
LW: The goals I have during my years at Minnesota would be, to get a great education and to find something I love to do to pursue for my career. With swimming I would like to help the team win four Big Ten competitions and I hope to place in the top eight at Big 10's and NCAA's.
GS: What’s your favorite thing to do when you aren’t in the pool?
LW: Some of my favorite things to do while I'm not in the pool would have to be, either eating or sleeping :), hanging out with friends, shopping and listening to music!
GS: What are you the most excited for after stepping foot on campus?
LW: What I am the most excited about is that we're all getting a new beginning and everyone is open to meeting new people and making new friends! I also can't wait to compete in the college level for swimming. I am very excited for the whole team aspect of it!
