Hassan Mead Named Big Ten Runner of the Week

Golden Gopher All-American Hassan Mead was named the Big Ten Runner of the Week, honoring his medalist performance at the Roy Griak Invitational last Saturday. Mead covered the 8-kilometer course in a time of 24 minutes, 37.5 seconds, winning by over 12 seconds, and becoming the first Minnesota men’s runner to capture individual gold at the prestigious Griak Invitational.
The award is the third of Mead’s Gopher career. The Big Ten defending champion, Mead was honored twice with Runner of the Week accolades during the 2008 season.
