Senior captain Jay Barriball was named the Red Baron® WCHA Offensive Player of the Week for Oct. 12 after his four goal, one assist performance in two home games against Massachusetts this past weekend.

Barriball, 23, has battled injuries during his entire collegiate career. He missed all but five games a year ago to a knee injury, but made his return to college hockey in grand fashion this weekend. He recorded Minnesota's first hat trick since March 16, 2007, on Saturday against the Minutemen and had a goal and an assist on Friday. He scored the first goal in both games and is responsible for all four of Minnesota's first-period goals this year.
