Gold Rallies to Defeat Maroon 9-8

The Gold Team staged a rally with a four-run ninth to defeat Maroon 9-8 to move the Steak N' Beans Series to 3-2 at Siebert Field on Saturday, Oct. 9.
With their backs against the wall facing an 8-5 deficit in the top of the ninth, the Gold team came up with a four-run ninth to keep alive its chances of winning the 2010 Steak N' Beans Series.
The Gold team was led by Bobby Juan (LaCrosse, Wis.) who went 2-for-5 with a home run, two runs and four RBI. Juan's home run propelled the Gold team into the lead in the ninth inning. Kyle Geason (Eden Prairie, Minn.) also went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles and an RBI, while Justin Gominsky (Mahtomedi, Minn.) was 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Dustin Klabunde (Brownton, Minn.) picked up a win in relief as he pitched two shutout innings and struck out a pair of batters. Juan also pitched 1.1 scoreless innings of relief. Phil Isaksson (Eau Claire, Wis.) started for the Gold team and gave up three hits and two runs in two innings. Tom Windle (Maple Grove, Minn.) also gave up three hits, two runs, walked one and struck out one in two innings of work.
Nick O'Shea (Blaine, Minn.) paced the Maroon team, as he went 2-for-4 with a double and four RBI. Trip Schultz (Forest Lake, Minn.) also went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI and a run. Troy Larson (Maplewood, Minn.) finished 3-for-4 with four runs and an RBI. Andy Henkemeyer (Sauk Rapids, Minn.) was also 2-for-5 with two runs.
Billy Soule (Hamel, Minn.) took the loss in relief as he gave up three hits, four unearned runs and struck out three in two innings of work. Alex Tukey (San Diego, Calif.) pitched two shutout innings and struck out three batters out of the bullpen. Kyle O'Shea (Blaine, Minn.) started and pitched three innings, giving up two hits, one earned run, two walks and two strikeouts.
The Steak N' Beans Series will wrap up on Friday, Oct. 15 at 3:30 p.m. and on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 12 p.m.
