Lesnar/Velasquez Title Bout Set for Saturday

UFC heavyweight champion and Minnesota wrestling alum Brock Lesnar is set to defend his title against the unbeaten Cain Velasquez this Saturday as the main event at UFC 121 in Anaheim, Calif.

The 2000 NCAA Heavyweight Champion, Lesnar (5-1-0) has notched notable wins against some of UFC's elite fighters including Heath Herring, Randy Couture, Frank Mir and Shane Carwin. After winning his mixed martial arts debut against Min-Soo Kim in 2007, Lesnar dropped his first UFC fight to Mir in 2008 via submission. The currently top-ranked heavyweight in the world then rattled off four-straight wins against Herring (a unanimous decision in Minneapolis in August 2008), Couture (a TKO that earned Lesnar the UFC title in November 2008), Mir (who dropped a TKO to Lesnar in a rematch in July 2009) and Carwin (a second-round submission last July).

Now the Webster, S.D. native will take on his second-straight unbeaten opponent in Velasquez (8-0-0) - a fighter who has recorded a knockout or technical knockout in all but one of his fights.

UFC 121 will be broadcast live on pay-per-view at 9 p.m. CST. A portion of the undercard will be broadcast on UFC Primetime.
