Minnesota Hosts No. 24 Northwestern

Minnesota will face No. 24 Northwestern on Friday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. That match can be seen live on BigTenNetwork.com and heard live in the Gold Zone.
The Gophers enter the match with a 16-7 overall record and is in fourth place in the Big Ten at 6-5. Tabi Love has a team-high 3.76 kps, 1.88 dps and 0.53 blps, while Ashley Wittman has 3.43 kps, 3.12 dps and 0.67 blps. Lauren Gibbemeyer leads the team in hitting percentage (.362) and blocks per set (1.18 blps), and has 2.84 kps.
Junior Jessica Granquist leads the Big Ten in digs in conference play (5.37 dps) and overall (5.08 dps). Stephanie Nucci also leads the team in assists at 10.40 aps and has 1.89 dps. Sophomore opposite hitter Katherine Harms has also averaged 3.33 kps, 2.17 dps and hit .425 in the last two matches.
The Golden Gophers enter the week as only team in the Big Ten to be in the top five in hitting percentage (3rd at .270), assists (third at 13.01 aps), blocks (fifth at 2.63 blps),opponent hitting percentage (fourth at .162) and kills (third at 14.00 kps). Minnesota is one of two teams in the conference to be in the top five in five of the six categories listed (hitting percentage, assists, blocks, opponent hitting pct., kills and service aces).
The Wildcats enter the week ranked No. 24 in the nation, are in a four-way tie for fifth in the Big Ten at 5-5 and have a 15-6 overall record. Last week, Northwestern lost in five sets to Ohio State at home and dropped a three-set decision to No. 9 Penn State. The Wildcats are led by Naomi Johnson who has 2.94 kps and 0.97 blps, while Sabel Moffett has 2.85 kps and is averaging 1.46 blps. Moffett finished with 14 blocks in the first matchup against the Golden Gophers. Stephanie Holthaus also has 2.71 kps and 2.61 dps, while Chrisitna Kaelin has 2.41 kps. Julie Chin leads the team with 3.57 dps and Elyse Glab is averaging 11.25 aps and 1.86 dps. Northwestern is coached by Keylor Chan who is 171-191 in his 13th season with the program.
