The Minnesota women’s swimming & diving team won 14 of 16 events to capture a dominating 186-108 dual-meet victory over Michigan State in East Lansing, Mich., on Saturday. A dozen different Golden Gophers won individual events. Minnesota is now 2-0 in dual meets this season.

“We were pretty solid across the board,” said Minnesota co-head coach Terry Nieszner. “Times and performances can be up and down early in the season. Other than taking two dual-meet wins, most importantly we did the little things right. We had good finishes; we came together as a team.”

The Gophers started the meet with a victory in the 200 medley relay. The foursome of Hannah Whitehead, Jillian Tyler, Kaylee Jamison and Meagan Radecke combined for a time of 1 minute, 43.55 seconds. Three members of the relay went on to win individual events in the meet.

Whitehead won the 200-yard freestyle for the second meet in as many days clocking a time of 1:51.64 seconds. Jamison won the 100 fly with a time 56.67 seconds. Radecke sprinted to the win in the 50 free in a time of 24.11 seconds. Radecke and Jamison, along with Marissa Davies and Alison Eggers, won the 200 free relay in 1:36.73. Eggers also captured the title in the 100 free in a time of 52.80 seconds.

All-American Haley Spencer set a pool record in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:18.11.

Three Gopher freshmen celebrated first-place finishes. Margaret Keefer won the 1-meter diving with score of 289.64. She also won the event in Friday’s meet against Michigan. Garnering their first collegiate victories were Tess Behrens in the 100 back with a time of 58.03 seconds and Kaela Anderson in the 400-yard individual medley in a 4:30.59.

Other Gopher winners were Kristen Steenvoorden in the 1,000 free (10:06.24), Molly Belk in the 100 breast (1:05.90), Annalise Colton in the 200 fly (2:05.04) and Ashley Steenvoorden in the 500 free in 4:57.57.
