Stephanie Price Named Midwest Region Athlete of the Year

Minnesota junior Stephanie Price has been named the U.S. Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Midwest Region Athlete of the Year. Price earned the honor after winning the title at last Saturday’s NCAA Midwest Region Championships. Price will receive her award at the NCAA Championships Banquet on Saturday.
Price and the Golden Gophers will run in the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Monday, Nov. 22, in Terre Haute, Ind. The Gophers are making their sixth consecutive trip to the NCAA meet.
A Mankato, Minn., native, Price has emerged as the Gophers’ number-one runner this season. She was the runner-up at the Griak Invitational and the Big Ten Championships. Price is the second runner in Gopher women’s cross country history to capture medalist honors at the NCAA Midwest Region Championships.
