Minnesota recorded a perfect score of 15 points to win the St. John’s Fall Finale on Friday in Collegeville, Minn. Redshirt freshman Steve Sulkin captured medalist honors covering the 8-kilometer course in a time of 24 minutes, 58 seconds.

The Golden Gophers rested their top runners in preparation for next weekend’s NCAA Midwest Region Championships.  There was one other NCAA Division I team in the field, South Dakota State who placed second.

Paul Hilsen was the second Gopher finisher and fourth overall, clocking a time of 25:16 and edging teammate Drew Paradis, who was tagged as third with the same time. Travis Burkstrand finished eighth overall with a time of 25:26. Matt Volz was the fifth scorer for the Gophers, placing ninth in 25:30. Minnesota tallied the perfect score as a result of four unattached runners among the top seven in the race.

The NCAA Midwest Region Championships will be hosted by Bradley University in Peoria, Ill, on Saturday, Nov. 13.
