Former Gopher LaCassie Finishes Sixth at Prestigous Australian Open

Former Gopher star Bronson LaCassie earned a sixth place finish at the Australian Open on Dec. 5th, competing amongst some of world's best including tournament winner and 2006 US Open champion, Jeff Ogilvy.
LaCassie recorded rounds of 68, 72, 68, and 69 respectively, for a 72-hole total of 277. Ending at 11 under for the event, the Brisbane native finished eight strokes back of Ogilvy but only four strokes back of runners up Alistair Presnell and Matt Jones.
Played at The Lakes Golf Club in Sydney, the Australian Open is one of, if not the most prestigious event on the Australasia PGA Tour. Past champions of the tournament include the likes of Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Greg Norman and Tom Watson, while recent winners include Adam Scott, Tim Clark and Robert Allenby.
A former All-American and three-time fist team All-Big Ten selection at Minnesota, LaCassie currently plays on the Nationwide Tour where he participated in 24 events this season. His last professional win came at the 2009 Sunset Hills NGA Classic on the NGA Hooters Tour. LaCassie was also the winner of the prestigious 2006 Western Amateur.
