Minnesota Notes


• This is Minnesota’s 12th consecutive NCAA tournament appearance. The Golden Gophers advanced to the Final Four in 2009.
• The Gophers have reached the NCAA tournament in 14 of 15 seasons under Mike Hebert. Hebert’s NCAA tournament record is 28-13 at Minnesota and 44-25 overall in 25 appearances.
• Minnesota is 31-5 overall in NCAA tournament play, including a 15-1 record in the First Round.
• Minnesota, a No. 10 seed, has received a national seed seven times in nine years.
• The Gophers swept the Bison in the First Round in 2008. Overall, Minnesota is 8-1 against North Dakota State and 17-1 against the Summit League.
• Minnesota improved to 20-2 when winning the first two sets.
• Minnesota hit .306, 50 points better than its season percentage of .256 entering tonight’s match. The Gophers hit .393 in the third set.
• It took only 68 minutes for Minnesota to win the match.

Minnesota Player Notes

• Tori Dixon recorded 6 kills in the first set and finished the match with eight.
• Jessica Granquist moved up to fourth on Minnesota’s season digs record list. Her 626 digs beat Christine Tan’s 2008 mark of 611.
• Granquist had 12 digs in the first set and finished the match with 17.
• Ashley Wittman passed the 400 kill mark for the season, becoming the fifth Gopher freshman to do so. The last was Brook Dieter in 2007.
• Wittman recorded 14 kills in tonight’s match, nine of them coming in the third set. This was her 26th match in double digits.
• Tabi Love recorded 10 kills, reaching double digits for the 22nd time this season and the 33rd time in her career. This was Love’s first match with double-digit kills since her hand injury.
• Lauren Gibbemeyer reached double digits in kills (11 tonight) for the 42nd time this season and 78th time overall.
• Gibbemeyer added four blocks, improving her school record to 588 and her block assists record to 497.
