Blog: Another Busy Day for Coach Kill

New University of Minnesota head football coach Jerry Kill had a busy day Tuesday. While Monday was a very visible working day for Coach Kill with his introductory press conference and numerous media interviews, Tuesday was just as important for the new Gopher mentor.

Kill spent a considerable portion of his day in the office, interviewing current Gopher coaching staff members. He also spent plenty of time delving deeper into the Gophers' personnel situation, as it pertains to the players who will be taking the field for him next season and into the future.

"We've been getting after it," Kill said of his day, just a few hours before he was scheduled to hop on a plane and head back to DeKalb, Ill. "We've been trying to get set up with all the things that we need to do and know throughout the university. We scrambled around over to the stadium to get familiar there. It was a busy day. But it was a good day and we've got a lot more day to go."

All of the aforementioned items are certainly important. But one of the most significant things he did Tuesday was meet with a group representing the Minnesota Football Coaches Association.  Coach Kill introduced himself to the group of high school coaches, gave them a little thumbnail background sketch of his career, talked about his philosophies and got to know them a bit, as well.

"I really enjoyed it," Kill said. "I'm an old high school coach. I enjoy visiting with high school coaches and getting their thoughts and feel. I have said all along, it isn't going to be one person that can get the thing going. It's going to take a group of us. So, I felt very good after the meeting. It's a great group of guys and I'm looking forward to working with them."

Following that meeting, it was back to his new office for a few minutes. Then, he'll be headed back to his old office at Northern Illinois for a couple days to take care of a few final details before he heads back to Gold Country for good on Friday.
