Gophers Score 189.475 at Michigan

The University of Minnesota women’s gymnastics team struggled at Michigan tonight, losing 189.475-195.05 against the host Wolverines.

Junior Ana Balboa was Minnesota’s top performer in two events, finishing second on beam with a 9.775, and tied for fourth place on floor with a 9.725. Balboa’s floor score ties her best of the 2010 season.

Alexis Russell, a senior, was the top scorer for the Gophers on bars, where she earned a 9.75 to place sixth overall. Minnesota had its best event score of the night on bars as the team tallied a 47.95.

Sophomore Lucy Ennis was the team’s top performer on vault, earning a 9.625 to place sixth overall.

Kendra Elm was the lone all around performer for the Golden Gophers, and she earned a 37.55.

Minnesota returns home to host Illinois next Saturday. The competition will begin at 6 p.m.at the Sports Pavilion.
