GopherSports.com caught up with senior Colin McGuire recently, discussing everything from this season to his taste in music.

Gopher Sports: When did you start gymnastics?
Colin McGuire: I started gymnastics when I was seven years old.

GS: How did you get started in gymnastics?
CM: I got started in gymnastics because my sister joined the club and I was kind of bouncing around in the lobby. The coach came out and said I should start gymnastics as well. The rest is history.

GS: What made you choose to come to Minnesota?
CM: When I came up here, I bonded really well with the team. The campus also really lured me in and the weather was awesome at that time.

GS: What do you like most about Minnesota?
CM: The thing I like most would probably be my teammates, and pretty much the friendships I've made up here.

GS: What have been some of your most memorable moments as a Gopher?
CM: My freshman year, our team got third place in Big Ten's and we also made it to the team finals at the NCAA's, so those are my highlights.

GS: What do you feel is your biggest accomplishment as a collegiate athlete?
CM: Probably being in the line-up in every competition, except for one, since I've been a freshman, really just contributing in every meet.

GS: What are your individual goals for this season?
CM: This season I would love to be a Big Ten finalist in at least three of my events, maybe even make the All-Big Ten team and hopefully be an All-American.

GS: Do you have any pre-meet rituals?
CM: I try to shy away from rituals. If something doesn't go right, I don't want that to ruin the rest of my day.

GS: What music do you enjoy listening to right now?
CM: I have a large range of music I enjoy, from country to pop to rock

GS: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
CM: I love playing volleyball. Soccer is one of my passions and movies. I really enjoy movies.

GS: What are you majoring in?
CM: Kinesiology, with an emphasis in exercise science.

GS: What do you hope to do after graduation?
CM: As of right now, I'm looking at going to graduate school for physical therapy.
