In conjunction with National Girls & Women in Sports Day, Minnesota is hosting Minnesota Girls & Women in Sports Day events on the U of M campus. The events include the women's basketball game against Wisconsin (Feb. 4) along with a kids clinic and reception.

On Wednesday, Feb. 3, the athletics department is having a breakfast from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the University of Minnesota boathouse in East River Flats Park, sponsored by Power Link. Gopher radio commentator Lynette Sjoquist will emcee the event. Guest speakers will include Gopher basketball forward Ashley Ellis-Milan and former Gopher swim coach Jean Freeman.

Prior to the Feb. 4 basketball game from 4:30-6 p.m., a youth clinic will be held for children ranging from second to fifth grade with a meal provided by McDonalds. A companion parent clinic entitled "Youth Sports: Making the Most of Your Kids Opportunity to Learn and Enjoy" will also be delivered by Dr. Nicole LaVoi from the U of M School of Kinesiology. At 6 p.m., a reception will be held for recent Gopher graduates and Gopher women's student-athletes.
