Minnesota Travels to Northwestern

Minnesota will head to Evanston to face Northwestern on Apr. 16-18 in the third week of Big Ten play.The Golden Gophers will face the Wildcats on Friday, Apr. 16 at 3 p.m., Saturday, Apr. 17 at 1 p.m. and Sunday,
Apr. 18 at 1 p.m. All three games will be on KLBB (1220 AM) and in the Gold Zone. Minnesota enters the week in a four-way tie for fourth place in the Big Ten at 3-3. Minnesota has a 13-20 overall record after dropping a 5-3 decision to South Dakota State on Apr. 14. The Wildcats are also tied for fourth in the Big Ten at 3-3, and have an overall record of 10-21. Northwestern defeated Northern Illinois 6-3 on Apr. 14.
The Golden Gophers are led by AJ Pettersen who is batting .338 with 24 runs and 23 RBI. Junior Michael Kvasnicka (Lakeville, Minn.) is also batting .328 with five home runs, 13 doubles, 27 RBI and 19 runs. Nick O'Shea is batting .331 with three home runs and 18 RBI, while Kyle Knudson is batting .304 with 11 doubles and 17 RBI.
Junior Seth Rosin (Shoreview, Minn.) will take the mound on Apr. 16. Rosin is 2-3 with a 4.01 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 49.1 innings. Freshman TJ Oakes (Jordan, Minn.) will pitch for the Gophers on Apr. 17. Oakes is 2-2 with a 3.69 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 39.0 innings. Phil Isaksson (Eau Claire, Wis.) will pitch for the Gophers on Apr. 18. Isaksson is 2-0 with a 4.06 ERA and has struck out 33 batters in 37.2 innings.
Last week, Northwestern won the first two games at Penn State 11-5 and 3-2 in 10 innings, before the Nittany Lions salvaged the final game 6-5. The Wildcats also defeated Northern Illinois 6-3 on Apr. 14. Northwestern is led by Paul Snieder who is batting .390 with 16 runs and 16 RBI, while Chris Lashmet leads the team with 26 RBI, has 17 runs and is batting .302. Chad Noble had a team-leading 23 runs, 12 RBI and is batting .355.
Pitching wise, Northwestern is led by Francis Brooke who is 3-2 with a 4.25 ERA and has struck out 34 batters in 48.2 innings. Eric Jokisch is also 2-4 with a 5.30 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 35.2 innings. Joe Muraski is also 0-5 with a 7.09 ERA, and 42 strikeouts in 45.2 innings.
