Minnesota retained the "Border Battle" Cup with the most lopsided victory margin in the short history of its annual all-sports rivalry with Wisconsin.

The Gophers amassed 550 points to Wisconsin's 330 points to even the all-time series with their third victory in the six-year history of the competition. Minnesota's three wins have all been by substantial margins with a 535-345 win in 2008-09 and a 530-350 win in 2005-06.

The two schools compete in 22 different sports and each sport is worth 40 points in the standings. Regular season results are used for sports in which the schools compete head-to-head. In sports based on a conference championship meet, the school finishing higher receives all 40 points.

Minnesota gained all 40 points in 13 of the 22 sports. The Gophers posted a sweep in volleyball and single victories in women's soccer, men's basketball, wrestling and softball. Minnesota also picked up 40 points by finishing higher at the conference meet in women's cross country, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's golf and men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field.

A split in men's hockey gave each school 20 points, while Minnesota gained 10 points for winning one of the four women's hockey matchups.
