Fortunato Prepares for USA National Qualifier

After recently completing his senior season, former Minnesota gymnast Aaron Fortunato now turns his sights to the national scene.
Fortunato's first test will be in the senior division of the USA National Qualifier which gets under way July 10 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The event will see gymnasts from across the country competing against one another in a show of all-around athleticism. The goal of all the gymnasts will be selection as one of 42 or so athletes who will advance to the 2010 Visa Championships, which begins August 11 in Hartford, Conn.
"My ultimate goal is to make the 2012 Olympic team," Fortunato said. "As far as getting to that point, going there [championships] in August and making the National team within the next year is going to be critical for me to get some international exposure."
