46 Gophers Named Big Ten Distinguished Scholars

All-America swimmer Kaylee Jamison was among six Golden Gophers to post a perfect 4.0 grade point average for the 2009-10 academic year pacing the 46 University of Minnesota student-athletes to receive the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award. Other Gophers to garner 4.0’s for the year were Addison Demer (men’s track), Mike Torchia (men’s track), Ben Kuznia (football), Katie Ohm (women’s basketball) and Kathryn Ritter (women’s track/cross country).
The Big Ten Conference announced 484 student-athletes who have been selected as recipients of the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award. The list features student-athletes from every institution and 32 different sports who have earned a minimum GPA of 3.7 or higher for the previous academic year.
