Gophers Among Leaders in Classroom

The University of Minnesota men's gymnastics team was one of just nine in the nation to compile a team grade-point average of 3.0 or better. The Golden Gophers ranked No. 9 in the College Gymnastics Association's (CGA) Academic Team rankings for the 2010 season.

Minnesota's men's gymnasts combined to put together a 3.063 grade-point average. Michigan won the CGA National Academic Team Championship with a 3.388 GPA.

In addition to the team rankings, the CGA also honored 70 individuals as First-Team All-America Scholar-Athletes and also designated 51 individuals with Second-Team recognition.

Minnesota's Thomas O'Brien and Aaron Fortunato were recognized for being honored as First-Team All-America Scholar-Athletes in all four years of their collegiate careers. Other Gophers on the 2009 list were: Russell Dabritz (first team); DJ Repp (first team); Adam Reichow (first team); Michael Paulus (first team); Travis Heaver (second team).
