Tyler Eighth in Pan Pac 100 Breast

Minnesota All-American Jillian Tyler placed eighth in the 100 breast at the 2010 Pan Pacific Championships in Irvine, Calif., on Thursday evening. Tyler, swimming for her native Canada, clocked a time of 1 minute, 8.45 seconds. She swam a faster time of 1:08.29 in the preliminary round.

USAs Rebecca Soni won the title with a time of 1:04.93, followed by Olympic champion Leisel Jones of Australia (1:05.66).

On Friday morning, Tyler posted a time of 32.16 seconds in the 50 breast to finish 21st in the preliminary competition.

Tyler swam her final event on Saturday, placing 17th and clocking a time of 2:30.40 in the 200 breast.

The Pan Pacific Championships is a competition between the U.S., Canada, Australia and Japan.
