The University of Minnesota football team reports Thursday. The Golden Gophers and head coach Tim Brewster will hold a number of meetings to officially kick off the 2010 preseason training camp.

But the unofficial beginning of the 2010 season will take place Wednesday evening. Coach Brewster and the 2010 Gopher Senior Class will take part in an annual tradition that has taken place in each of the four years of Brewster's tenure. The team's Senior Dinner will take place tonight at Jax Café.

Each of the seniors will have an opportunity to address the group to discuss their time at the University of Minnesota and talk about the upcoming season.

"The senior dinner is a great event to kick off the culmination of your college football career," former Gophers wide receiver Ben Kuznia said. Kuznia took part in the event last year at this time. "For a lot of guys, it marks the realization that this is your last opportunity to achieve the ultimate goal."

For this year's seniors, the Senior Dinner is a bit of a time to reflect and realize how quickly time can pass.

"College has been a journey, just hearing about the Senior Dinner makes you think how fast it's gone," senior fullback Jon Hoese said. "It wasn't that long ago I was playing in high school. Now it's already our senior year. It's been a good journey."

It's a moment Coach Brewster relishes as he gets ready to run his team through its preseason camp.

"It's a special occasion prior to each season," Brewster said. "The seniors coming together and sharing their experiences through their years at the University of Minnesota is really great. It's a time for them to reflect. But it also really sets the stage for the season to begin."
