On August 4, 2010, Target Field and the Create-A-Memory organization welcomed over 400 children to the ball field and celebrated their 24th anniversary. Create-A-Memory is a non-profit charitable organization founded by Ronald A. Zamansky that organizes events for underprivileged children. This year, the inaugural year of Target Field, the children participated by playing various sports and games on Target Field including running the bases, wiffleball, baseball clinics, radar toss, kickball, softball, home run derby, player autographs and free food!
Gopher athletes Ross Cameratta (men’s gymnastics), Janell Campbell (women’s gymnastics), Shanna Campbell and Caitlyn Dongoske (women’s track), Katie Frischmann and Anne Schleper (women’s hockey), Sammie Howard and Natalie Neal (softball) and Jackie Voigt and Katie Loberg (women’s basketball) helped facilitate the event and made a special impression on kids from all over the Twin Cities. Games, tours of the field, and giveaways including Target Field t-shirts stating "I played ball at Target Field" helped make the afternoon exceptionally fun for everyone involved, especially the kids!
