Camp Blog: Day 1 In The Books

The Minnesota Golden Gophers held their first full day of preseason training camp on Friday in preparation for the team's opener at Middle Tennessee State on Thursday, Sept. 2.

A 5:00 a.m. wake-up call kicked off the day for the Gophers who went through team testing before the first of two practices (one for newcomers in the morning before the returners practiced Friday afternoon). Sandwiched in between the two were multiple meetings for offensive, defensive and special teams units.

Gophersports.com  caught up with the team as it held its first practice of the 2010 campaign at the Gibson-Nagurski Football Complex...

The Maroon and Gold donned helmets only for the opening workout with limited contact. The morning session focused on installing offensive and defensive schemes and strategies for the team's newcomers. Following the afternoon practice, the Gophers rounded out the first day of practice with dinner before more meetings and finally a team building activity to end the night.
