Gophers in Eighth at Golfweek Challenge

Playing in their second tournament of the season, Minnesota sits in eight place after the second round of the 18 team Golfweek Conference Challenge in Vail, Colo. The Gophers posted combined team scores of 298 and 306 to open play and are 17 strokes behind first place UC Davis (587).

Minnesota (604) was paced by senior Michele Edlin, whose team low 72 in the second round has her alone in 10th place. Fellow senior Teresa Puga is currently three strokes behind Edlin in a tie for 16th place after rounds of 72 and 77.  Mary Narzis is in a tie for 54th, while Jackie Shepherd is in a tie for 47th and  Samantha Sommers is in a tie for 76th place in the standings.

Arizona (588) is one back of leader UC Davis with 18 holes remaining, followed by Virginia (590), Tulane (591) and Denver (592).
