The Golden Gopher women’s hockey team is coming off another Frozen Four season and heads into the 2010-11 campaign with a squad that features a nice mix of experienced veterans and talented freshmen. Minnesota, ranked No. 4 in the nation, travels to Potsdam, N.Y., this weekend to face the Golden Knights of Clarkson to open the 2010-11 season. The Gophers and Knights squared off last March in the NCAA Regional in Ridder Arena with Minnesota winning to advance to the national semifinals.
Minnesota returns both its first-team All-Americans from a year ago in goaltender Nora Räty and defensemen Anne Schleper. The Gophers also have five of their top six scorers back with senior forward Emily West leading the way. West tallied 23 goals and 23 assists last season.
