Minnesota-Indiana Postgame Quotes

Minnesota Head Coach Pam Borton
Opening statement:
“Obviously I think this is a very disappointing game to lose, especially when you’ve got a lead…I think we just didn’t play with aggression at the end of the game and I thought we were playing a little too timid. We put them to the free throw line and they got a lot of second opportunities in overtime and the last several minutes of the game that really made the difference.”
On getting outrebounded in the second half:
“I just think (the Hoosiers) were the more aggressive team. They were all over the boards, and just way more aggressive and a little bit tougher than us. We got one rebound between both of our (low post) players—between (Katie) Loberg and (Kristen Dockery).”
On the way Hope Elam stepped up when the Gophers slowed down Jori Davis:
“Their great players stepped up. They just did a great job creating their own shot and making plays and making huge shots at the end. (Whitney Lindsay) got to the rim a few times and got to the free throw line. (Elam) knocked down open shots…We knew who the shooters were. We just weren’t there.”

On the Gophers’ struggles at the end of the game:
“I think we all just got a little stagnant toward the end, a little timid to score. We were trying to play a little too safe…We weren’t really attacking and scoring and doing the things we were doing toward the beginning of the game and the first 15 minutes of the half.”
Katie Loberg
On her difficulty scoring later in the game:
“I feel like the way I play is really athletic, so towards the beginning I was really using that, but they kind of switched up some players on the inside so that kind of changed things up for me and for (Dockery) as well. My athleticism didn’t play to my advantage towards the end.”
Indiana Head Coach Felisha Legette-Jack
On the start of conference play:
“It’s the real season now. In non-conference, you lose some games because you don’t really know the factors of that opponent. But we (Big Ten teams) know each other inside out.”
On the importance of stamina in today’s game:
“We’re not the most talented team in the Big Ten. We’re certainly not the fastest or tallest. But nobody is going to outwork us…(The Hoosiers) really at the end found a way to continue to have resiliency and some fight. They lift a lot of weights. They get in the gym on their own.”
