Braun, Battle, McKinney, and Grocholski Named to All-Big Ten Teams

Sophie Hart was honored as this year's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honoree

MINNEAPOLIS - Four Minnesota standouts, Mara Braun, Amaya Battle, Tori McKinney and Grace Grocholski, have earned All-Big Ten recognition, the Big Ten Conference announced.

Additionally, Sophie Hart was selected as Minnesota's Sportsmanship Honoree.

Battle adds All-Big Ten third-team (coaches and media) and All-Big Ten defensive team (coaches) honors to her decorated resume. This season, the senior guard has totaled 316 points, a team-leading 216 rebounds and 105 assists, along with 35 steals. The Hopkins, Minn., native has recorded four double-doubles this season and has reached double figures in 12 of her last 13 games.

Against Ohio State, Battle surpassed Lindsay Whalen to become Minnesota's No. 2 all-time assists leader. She sits behind Debbie Hunter (1979-83), who ended her career with 633 assists. In addition, she is one of three active NCAA players with more than 1,000 career points, 700 career rebounds and 500 career assists. She is one of two Golden Gophers, besides Rachel Banham, in program history to record 1,000 points, 600 rebounds and 500 assists in a career.

For the third time in her career, Braun has been recognized by the Big Ten, earning All-Big Ten Honorable Mention from the league's coaches. This season, the guard leads the Maroon and Gold with 20 blocks and ranks second with 40 steals. The Wayzata, Minn., native is averaging 11.7 points per game and has scored 338 points in 29 games. In addition, she has grabbed 125 rebounds, a career high for a single season. Braun has reached double figures in seven of her last nine games, including a season-high 22 points on the road against Penn State.

For the third consecutive season, Grocholski has earned a spot among the best in the conference earning a spot on the All-Big Ten Second Team (coaches and media). The North Prairie, Wisconsin, native is averaging 12.5 points per game and leads Minnesota with 362 points. Against No. 7 Maryland on Dec. 7, Grocholski knocked down a career-high nine 3-pointers on her way to a career-best 31 points, tying for the second-most 3-pointers made in a single game in program history. Grocholski earned Big Ten weekly honor roll recognition after recording her second career double-double against Drake with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

The guard-forward has 214 career 3-pointers, ranking No. 7 all-time in Minnesota program history. Grocholski ranks fifth in the conference and No. 17 in the NCAA in 3-point percentage at 43.0%.

For the first time in her career, McKinney has earned honors from the Big Ten. The sophomore guard was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team (coaches), All-Big Ten Defensive Team (coaches) and All-Big Ten Third Team (media). She leads Minnesota this season with 50 steals and in scoring, averaging 13.6 points per game. She has scored 339 points in 25 starts.

The Minnetonka, Minnesota, native has recorded four 20-point games, including a career-high and team season high 29 points against No. 18/16 Michigan State. She has reached double figures in 19 of 25 games this season.

As Minnesota's Sportsmanship Award honoree, Hart caps her graduate season with a well-deserved honor from the Big Ten. It marks the first time the Farmington, Minn., native has been recognized by the conference. Hart has made 95 consecutive starts since joining the Maroon and Gold in 2023-24.

This season, she is averaging 10.9 points per game and has recorded three double-doubles, including 18 points and 10 rebounds in Minnesota's win over No. 10/10 Ohio State. Against Illinois, she led all scorers with 17 points, including 10 in the first quarter..
