Amaya Battle Earns Training Camp Opportunity with Lynx

The former Gopher led Minnesota to the Sweet 16 in 2026

MINNEAPOLIS - University of Minnesota women's basketball alum Amaya Battle has agreed to a training camp contract with the Minnesota Lynx. She will get the chance to make the team before the regular season begins on May 10. 

Battle will compete for one of 12 roster spots or two developmental player slots on the Lynx as final roster cuts are made ahead of the season opener.
 
Battle earned All-Big Ten Third Team and Defensive Team honors this past season, averaging 11.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game this past season for Minnesota.
 
The Hopkins, Minn., native finished at No. 11 on Minnesota's all-time scoring list with 1,533 career points. Battle's 599 assists are No. 2 in Minnesota's career record book. She is behind Debbie Hunter (533). In addition, she finished her career with 766 rebounds, ranking 10th all-time. 
 
Battle finished her career at Minnesota as the only player to finish her career with 1,500+ points, 590+ assists, and 750+ career rebounds. She helped lead Minnesota to the Sweet 16 this past season for the first time since 2004.
 
Currently one Gopher alum is on a WNBA roster: Rachel Banham (Chicago Sky).
