On a cool crisp fall Saturday afternoon, the University of Minnesota women's cross country team hosted the annual Jack's Run. The Jack's Run is held every year in honor of the late Jack Johnson who passed away in 2006. Proceeds of the race were divided between the Jack Johnson Endowed Scholarship, the Angel Foundation of Minnesota and the Tesfa Foundation. The 6-kilometer run was open to the public and over 100 runners participated from all ages and no team score was kept.
The Gophers rested their top runners that will be competing next weekend at the Big Ten Championships, in Champaign, Ill.
Junior Andrea Rediger led all Minnesota runners after finishing in 22:00.74. The Rockford, Ill., was clicking on all cylinders from the beginning and never looked back. Sophomore Rachel Drake was next in line behind Rediger after she clocked in at 22:17.42.
Next in order for the Gophers were Annie Talajkowski (22:35.20), Jamie Vandenberg (22:42.56), Paige Orcutt (22:47.15), Claire Rindo (22:55.07), Stephanie Solfelt (23:10.54), Kait Mincke (23:12.03), Jessica Schmidt (23:13.11) and Chelsea Pettit (23:16.29) rounded out Minnesota's top 10 finishers.
Next up for the Gophers is the 2011 Big Ten Championships next Sunday October 30. The race is scheduled to start at 10:45 a.m.
