The Minnesota men's golf team is set to play its final event of the fall at Kiawah Island Golf Resort in South Carolina. The Wendy's Kiawah Island Intercollegiate, hosted by Charleston Southern, is a three-day tournament running from Sunday to Tuesday, with 18 holes played each day. Live results will be available at golfstat.com.

The Golden Gophers look to carry their momentum over from a 7-under final round at the AutoTrader.com Classic a few weeks ago. Their fourth place finish raised their season record above .500, and they hope to keep it there heading into the break. (The Gophers are 25-23-1.)

The same five golfers who finished a season-best 8-over at the last tournament will play at Kiawah. Erik Van Rooyen, who fired off a third-round 67 and finished sixth, leads the team with a 72.66 stroke average. Head coach John Carlson also expects Robert Bell, Jon Trasamar, David Haley Jr., and Tim Peterzen to play consistently as well.

"I think we're going to have a good week at Kiawah, and I feel like we can bring home a win at this tournament," Carlson said.

The course: Par-72 Turtle Point Golf Course was designed by Jack Nicklaus. It features narrow fairways and small greens, and is rated 48th out of Golf Digest's 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses. The course plays at 7,054 yards. Carlson's take: "I feel like Turtle Point will set up well for us."

The field: Besides Minnesota and host Charleston Southern, the other 19 teams competing are Wisconsin, Campbell, Towson, George Washington, Presbyterian, Butler, Western Kentucky, Stetson, Kennesaw State, Boise State, Connecticut, Bradley, Jacksonville State, IUPUI, Murray State, Miami (Ohio), St. John's, USC Upstate, and William & Mary. Campbell was last year's runner-up.

Notes: Minnesota has had multiple top-15 finishers in three of its four tournaments this fall...Van Rooyen's 2-under tournament total at the AutoTrader Classic was the first under-par finish by a Gopher this season...the Gophers' next event is not until Feb. 10-11, when they travel to Bradenton, Fla., for Big Ten Matchplay.
