After one round of the Alamo Invitational in San Antonio, Minnesota is tied for 10th place. The Golden Gophers' team score on day one was 313 (+13). A pair of true freshmen led the team Sunday.

Carmen Laguna had the Gophers' best round, an even-par 72. Laguna is tied for ninth, only three shots back from the leaders. She recorded three bogeys and three birdies to stay even on the day and set a new career-low round. Another freshman, Sarinee Thitiratanakorn, also set a personal best, with a score of 75. She is tied for 30th. Banchalee Theinthong shot a 76 (+4). Taylor Quinn posted a 6-over 78 (one better than her previous season-low) and Jackie Shepherd a 79. Anna Laorr also turned in a 79 golfing as an individual in her first collegiate round.

As a team, Minnesota trails leader TCU by 13 strokes. The Gophers are tied with New Mexico State in 10th. Fabiola Arriaga (UTSA) and Monifa Sealy (UCF) share first place in the individual competition, each posting a 69 today.
