In his final collegiate game, Kim Royston turned in an effort that earned him a Co-Defensive Player of the Week honor from the Big Ten Conference.
Royston recorded 13 tackles Saturday vs. Illinois. It was the eighth time this year he finished a game with 10 or more stops. He also added his first career sack on the final play of his career and had a pass breakup in the game.
Royston tallied 11 tackles in the second half Saturday to finish the season with 123 stops, the most by a Gopher since 2001. It was Royston's first career Defensive Player of the Week honor.
The last Minnesota Defensive Player of the Week winner was Garrett Brown on Nov. 1, 2009.
Royston shared the award with Nebraska linebacker Lavonte David.
