Sarah Hesser Elected as Midwest Regional Cross Country Representative

University of Minnesota Volunteer Assistant Coach Sarah Hesser has been elected as the Midwest Region Cross Country Representative. She was elected at last week's National Convention, in San Antonio, Texas.
Hesser will represent all Women Midwest Region coaches for the next two years and sit on the USTFCCCA Cross Country Coaches Executive Committee.
"This is a very well deserved honor for Sarah and she will do a simply fantastic job in her duties as our Region Rep," Head Cross Country Coach Gary Wilson said. "As everyone knows she (Hesser) is a rising star in the coaching ranks, which is demonstrated by her being named by her peers for this prestigious position."
Hesser, a former Golden Gopher student-athlete on both the cross country and track teams, graduated Suma Cum Laude in May of 2006, with a major in child psychology. She continued her education at Minnesota earning a master's degree in applied kinesiology: sport management.
The Minneapolis native was a three-time letterwinner in cross country and served as team captain as a junior and senior. She was honored as the Minnesota recipient of the 2005 Big Ten Conference Sportsmanship Award. Hesser was also a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and awarded the Gophers' Coaches Award in her junior season. She lettered once as a member of the track team and was a captain her senior season.
Hesser also owns a Level 1 Track and Field / Cross Country Coaching Certificate.
