Bottom of the 9th Event on Feb. 4

The Minnesota Baseball Program will host the "Bottom of the 9th Event" in the Dairy Queen Club Room at TCF Bank Stadium on Friday, Feb. 4.
Major League Baseball Hall of Famers and former Golden Gopher standouts Paul Molitor and Dave Winfield will be the keynote speakers. Monday Night Football announcer and WCCO host Michele Tafoya and former Golden Gopher standout and Kansas City Royals' announcer Ryan Lefebvre will be the co-emcees for the event.
The program will run from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and will feature Molitor, Winfeld, Director of Athletics Joel Maturi and Head Baseball Coach John Anderson. There will also be live and silent auctions as part of the festivities, along with a trivia contest for two first-class roundtrip tickets to anywhere in the world.
Some of the live auction items will include a Spring Training experience with the Minnesota Twins, hosted by Paul Molitor, including dinner with Paul and roundtrip airfare, a behind-the-scenes experience with the Denver Broncos and Eric Decker, consisting of a tour of the Broncos' facilities and lunch with Eric on Saturday prior to a home game as well as two tickets to the game on Sunday, a Gopher Football game day experience, which includes two sideline passes, two premium seating club tickets and the opportunity to run out of the tunnel with the team for the October 22, 2011 game vs. Nebraska and Minnesota Twins ceremonial first pitch experience to go along with two Champions Club tickets.
There will also be a silent auction items such a Dave Winfield autographed Yankees jersey, U2 concert tickets, a Deacon's Lodge Golf Weekend and many other memorabilia items.
The night will also serve as a tribute to amateur baseball in the state of Minnesota. Representatives from all three of the Gophers' National Championship teams (1956, 1960, 1964) will be in attendance, along with members of the 2010 Plymouth Little League World Series team.
This event will serve as part of the continuing effort to raise money for the Siebert Field Legacy Campaign. The Gophers have raised over $4 million funds committed toward the Siebert Field renovation campaign. The Pohlad Family donated $2 million to the Siebert Field Legacy Campaign. In addition, Gopher Athletics is committed to add over $1 million from its general operating fund, along with gifts from other donors of over $500,000. A remaining amount of $3.5 million needs to be raised to begin construction on the new ballpark.
