Trio of Gophers Head to the Winter Cup

The combined team aspect for the University of Minnesota men's gymnastics team will be on hold this week as most collegiate teams from across the country send some of their best athletes to compete at the Winter Cup this week at the Las Vegas, Nev. Sports Center.
The Gophers will be sending junior DJ Repp and sophomores Harris Coleman and Josh Wokurka to the event. Aaron Fortunato, who graduated from Minnesota last year, will also be competing.
The 119-man field will be competing for the a chance at the eight remaining spots available on the 15-man U.S. Men's Senior National Team through the 2011 Visa Championships. The Championships will be held at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minn. Aug. 17-20.
"We're going there hoping to hit our routines, and if the guys do good enough of a job, they might make the National team," Minnesota head coach Mike Burns said. "I think it's going to be very difficult, all the top guys in the country will be there."
