Gymnasts Fall at Nebraska

The University of Men's gymnastics team scored nearly six points better than its season average Saturday night in Lincoln, Neb. But the Gophers' score of 348.600 wasn't enough to top the host Nebraska Cornhuskers or Iowa Hawkeyes. Nebraska tallied 354.500 and Iowa scored 351.800 to take first and second, respectively, in the tri-meet.

One week after putting up a team-high score in Brockport, N.Y. in a meet against Air Force and Brockport, the Gophers put together a solid score, but still dropped the meet.

On the floor exercise, Minnesota was led by DJ Repp and Josh Workurka who each scored a 14.600. Michael Hillin led the Gophers on the pommel horse with a score of 14.700. Travis Heaver led the way on the rings at 14.700. Matt Frey paced the Gophers on the vault with a 15.900 score. Minnesota's top scorer on the parallel bars was Russell Dabritz with a 14.800. Ross Cameratta led Minnesota on the high bar at 14.700.

This was the final tuneup for the Gophers in preparation for the Big Ten Championships. Minnesota will travel to Champaign, Ill. on April 1-2 to take part in the conference championship meet at the University of Illinois.
