The University of Minnesota’s inaugural Goldy’s Run at TCF Bank on April 9, 2011, is off to a fast start. The inaugural event already has over 1,750 participants registered.
“This is a fantastic milestone,” said long-time running event producer Marilyn Franzen. “First-year runs are rarely this big this early in the game. ”
Goldy’s Run at TCF Bank Stadium is presented by the St. Jude Medical Foundation and includes a 10 mile run, a 5K and a 1K Kid’s Run. Fans will have an opportunity to run with Gopher Athletes, coaches and of course, Goldy. The various race courses will take participants through campus and along the Mississippi River, finishing inside the University of Minnesota’s TCF Bank Stadium. Runners will be featured on the giant scoreboard as they cross the finish line.
Those interested in registering for the event can do so at goldysrun.com. The cost is $10 for the Kids Run, $35 for the 5K and $55 for the 10 mile. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Amplatz Children’s Hospital. Participants will receive a Goldy’s Run t-shirt, snacks and refreshments. 10 Mile participants will be given a finisher’s medal and volunteers will receive two tickets to a Gopher football game.
Goldy’s Run is an official training run of Grandma’s Marathon and is produced by Podium Sports Marketing, Inc. a premium running event company in the Twin Cities.
