Windle Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

Minnesota freshman pitcher Tom Windle (Maple Grove, Minn.) was named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week along with Illinois' Thomas Lindauer.

Windle picked up a win in his first career start, as he went five innings, gave up four hits, one run, did not walk a batter and struck out five against Sacramento State on Mar. 16. In his last three outings, Windle has given up seven hits, one earned run and struck out nine batters.

Entering the week, Windle is 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA and has 12 strikeouts in 13.0 innings. He is also limiting the opposition to a .234 batting average and is tied with a team-high five appearances.

Minnesota will be back in action when it travels to Cal Poly to face the Mustangs on Friday, Mar. 25 at 8 p.m. (CT), Saturday, Mar. 26 at 6 p.m. (CT) and Sunday, Mar. 27 at 12 p.m. (CT).
