Welcome to this week's Goldy's Mailbag. This is your chance to get your questions answered about anything and everything related to Golden Gopher Athletics! Submit your question for next week's Mailbag!

I know Jack Hannahan was with Seattle last year. Is he still on the Mariners roster? - Justin, Darwin, Minn.

No, after playing 51 games for the Mariners last year after getting traded midseason, Jack has moved on. He signed a minor league deal with the Cleveland Indians last December. So far, so good for the former Golden Gopher third baseman as Jack is currently hitting .350 with four doubles and four RBI. There has been speculation that Jack could end up as the Indians' starting third baseman with an injury to Jason Donald.

Jack broke into the majors with Detroit in 2006 as he appeared in three games. He spent two and a half seasons in Oakland, including 2008 when he played in 143 games with nine home runs and 47 RBI.

Jack, of course, was a standout with the Golden Gophers after playing high school baseball at Cretin-Derham Hall. He joined the U in 1999 and teamed with Robb Quinlan to help Minnesota post a school record 46 wins. Hannahan capped his career with Big Ten Player of the Year honors in 2001.

You need to come up with a song like the Badgers did! I'm sure you've heard of "teach me how to Bucky." I think you deserve a cool song too. - Luke, Ellsworth, Minn.

Ask and you shall receive. You'll even get a cameo from University President Bob Bruininks.

Will the Golden Gophers have a real spring football game? I remember in the 1980s when they divided the teams into Minneapolis and St. Paul teams. - Ray, Austin, Minn.

Good question! With the start of spring football practice today, Coach Kill actually addressed the spring game yesterday in his press conference. He essentially said with the depth and number of athletes on the team, they will not be able to field two teams to play a traditional spring game. Coach did mention the idea of having a few of the media members in attendance come down and call a few plays in the future, perhaps by year three. This year's spring game is scheduled for Saturday, April 23 at 1 p.m.
