Gopher Recruit Joe Coleman Named Mr. Basketball

University of Minnesota men's basketball recruit Joe Coleman was recently announced as the State of Minnesota's Mr. Basketball for the 2010-11 season. Coleman, a senior at Hopkins High School, becomes the 17th Minnesota Mr. Basketball winner to sign with Minnesota and will join 2011 Tennessee Mr. Basketball Andre Hollins on the Gophers' roster next season.

Coleman, a native of Hopkins, Minn. and brother of former Gopher Dan Coleman, was also recently named Minnesota's Gatorade Player of the Year, the Minnesota Preps Player of the Year and the Minneapolis Star Tribune Player of the Year. He led the Hopkins Royals to their third-straight Minnesota State High School Class AAAA Championship over the weekend.

Coleman led the Royals this season with a 21.5 points per game average to go along with 5.9 rebounds per game. He is scheduled to represent the State of Minnesota in the NeXt All-American Classic game on April 3 in Chicago.
