Kayla Slechta reels in her second Big Ten honor this season after winning the vault title and tying for second place in the all around against No. 19 Iowa State. She shares the weekly award with Illinois' Amber See.

In her all-around debut, Slechta posted a 39.125, marking the best score by a Gopher gymnast in her first all-around competition. Slechta is one of three Gopher gymnasts to score 39 or better in her all around debut, joining Annie Laatsch and Lucy Ennis. Laatsch scored 39.10 in her first all around in 2003, and Ennis tallied a 39.05 in her first all around competition last season.

Her score of 9.850 on the vault was good for first place, while her 9.775 in the floor exercise tied her for sixth and a 9.725 on the bars tied her for seventh. Slechta also competed on the balance beam for the first time in her career, posting a 9.775 to earn eighth place.

Slechta has won vault at seven competitions this season, and has scored 9.80 or better at every meet. She averages 9.853, and is currently ranked fourth in the Big Ten with an RQS of 9.865.

Slechta and her teammates will take on NC State this Saturday evening in the 2011 regular season finale. The competition will begin at 6 p.m. at the Sports Pavilion.
