The University of Minnesota held its inaugural Goldy’s Run on Saturday, April 9th on the U of M East Bank campus. Over 3,000 participants competed in three races: the 10-mile, a 5k walk or run and the Goldy’s Gallop kids run. Sponsored by St. Jude Medical Foundation, a portion of the run proceeds benefitted the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital.

The race started on University Ave, weaved through parts of campus and along the Mississippi River. Participants finished on the 50-yard line of TCF Bank Stadium where they could see their finish on the video board. Minnesota football coach Jerry Kill was there to kick off the 5k and 10-mile runs, while director of athletics Joel Maturi was also in attendance. Goldy was also present through the entire event, especially to start off the Goldy’s Gallop kids run. Participants of both the 5K and 10-mile received a Goldy's Run t-shirt. The finishers of the 10-mile also received a medal, while kids received a collectible item. Along with participants, Gopher athletics had over 150 volunteers for the event.

Goldy’s Run was also an official training run of Grandma’s Marathon and is produced by Podium Sports Marketing, Inc. a premium running event company in the Twin Cities.
