Travis Burkstrand Wins Mt. SAC Relays 800 Open Title

Minnesota sophomore Travis Burkstrand won the open 800-meter run title at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., on Friday evening. Burkstand clocked a time of 1 minute, 49.70 seconds to lead a pack of six Golden Gophers to finish in the top 13 in the event with times within a second of each other.
Nick Hutton finished third posting a time of 1:49.77 competing in the same heat as Burkstrand. Max Hanson placed fifth in 1:49.84, followed by David Pachuta in ninth in 1:50.14, Harun Abda in 12th in 1:50.31 and Joe McFarland in 13th in 1:50.38.
Hassan Mead finished eighth in the Olympic Development Elite 5,000 meters with a time of 13:45.68. Former All-American and current Gopher volunteer assistant coach Chris Rombough place second in a time of 13:42.05.
