The University of Minnesota men's gymnastics team saw its 2011 season come to an end Friday night at St. John Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
The NCAA Men's Collegiate Gymnastics Championships are taking place on the campus of Ohio State University this week. On Thursday afternoon, seven Golden Gopher gymnasts qualified for Friday night's competition. The top 10 in each of the six events on Friday moved on to Saturday's individual event finals.
Unfortunately for Minnesota, none of the Gophers put up a score which qualified them to move on in the competition. Minnesota's top finish of the night Friday was DJ Repp's 16th-place finish on the floor exercise. In addition, Repp was taking part in the all-around finals Friday night. He placed 16th in the all-around as well.
Friday night's competition also included the team championship portion of the event. The Cardinal put up a score of 363.450, out-distancing Oklahoma's total of 361.600. Illinois was third, with California, Michigan and Penn State rounding out the rest of the field.
