Minnesota Faces Iowa in Big Ten Tournament

The seedings and matchups for the 2011 Big Ten Women's Tennis Tournament were announced today following the conclusion of the conference's regular-season schedule. Minnesota, which ended its season with two straight Big Ten wins and three straight Big Ten wins at home, is seeded eighth.
The Gophers (7-15, 3-7 Big Ten) will play the first match of the tournament at 9 a.m. on Thursday against ninth seed Iowa (6-15, 3-7 Big Ten). Minnesota beat Iowa 6-1 this afternoon (April 24) to close out the regular season. The winner of the match will face top seed Michigan at 9 a.m. on Friday. Michigan (20-3, 10-0 Big Ten) is ranked No. 10 in the country and defeated Minnesota 7-0 on April 2 at Baseline Tennis Center.
The tournament begins Thursday, with first-round matches taking place beginning at 9 a.m. at Michigan's Varsity Tennis Center. Friday will feature quarterfinal matches beginning at 9 a.m., while Saturday will showcase the tournament semifinals starting at 9 a.m. Sunday's championship match is scheduled for 11 a.m.
The Big Ten Network will broadcast the championship match on tape delay on Saturday, May 7 at 9 a.m.
